How Quordle Works

In standard Wordle, each guess targets a single hidden word. In Quordle, that same guess is simultaneously evaluated against four independent hidden words. You get 9 total guesses. You do not choose which board a guess applies to — every guess goes to all four boards at once. The goal is to find all four words before running out of guesses.

The Best Opening Strategy for Quordle

Because a single guess must serve four boards, information density is everything. The optimal approach:

  1. Guess 1 — CRANE: Tests C, R, A, N, E — five letters that appear in the largest number of 5-letter English words. No repeats, all unique.
  2. Guess 2 — SLOTH: Tests S, L, O, T, H — five more high-frequency letters that do not overlap with CRANE. After two guesses, you have tested 10 completely different letters across all four boards.
  3. Guess 3 — DUMP or WIPED: By now you should have enough Yellow/Green tiles to start directing guesses at specific boards with the remaining 7 guesses.

The Park Strategy — Your Most Powerful Tool

The single biggest mistake beginners make: solving the easiest board too early.

Once a board is solved, those guesses are "wasted" from a multi-board perspective. If Board 1 shows CRANE → all green after guess 2, you have solved it — but you still have 7 guesses left and 3 boards unsolved. Deliberately avoid solving Board 1 for 2–3 more rounds and use those guesses to collect information about the harder boards. You can always close Board 1 in 1 guess when you are ready.

Using Burner Words

When multiple boards narrow down to the same letter pattern (e.g., Board 2 and Board 3 both end in -ATCH), you face a trap. You could guess BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, PATCH — but that wastes 4 guesses testing one letter per guess. Instead, guess CHAMP — a word that contains C, H, M, and P in one guess, eliminating 4 of the candidates instantly. This is a "burner word" — it solves nothing directly but generates massive information cheaply.

Solve in Order of Difficulty

When you enter your final 4–5 guesses, prioritize your hardest unsolved board. If you leave the hardest board for last with only 1 guess remaining, you will likely fail unless you already know the answer. Plan your closing sequence:

  • Identify the board with the fewest remaining candidates
  • Lock that board first, freeing all future guesses for the remaining boards
  • If two boards remain with 2 guesses left, you need near-certainty on both

What is Quordle?

Quordle is the ultimate multi-tasking word game. Instead of solving one Wordle puzzle, you are solving four Wordle grids simultaneously. Every guess you enter is applied to all four grids at the same time, forcing you to manage your risk and spread your attention across multiple distinct word structures.

How to Play 4 Grids at Once

  1. The Multi-Opener: In standard Wordle, one good opening word is enough. In Quordle, you must dedicate your first two (or even three) guesses to completely distinct burner words to reveal as much of the alphabet as possible (e.g., ARISE followed by CLOUT).
  2. Solve the Clearest Board First: After 3 guesses, look at all four grids. Focus entirely on the board with the most green/yellow tiles and solve it. Do not try to progress all four grids simultaneously.
  3. Snowball Your Guesses: Solving Grid #1 will inevitably give you new letter hints for Grids 2, 3, and 4. Use that momentum to pick off the remaining boards one by one.

Rules to Keep in Mind

  • You have 9 total guesses to solve 4 words. This gives you practically no margin for error in the endgame.
  • A letter can be green in Grid 1, but gray in Grid 2. The keyboard at the bottom of the screen is split into four quadrants to show you the status of a letter across all boards.

Pro Tips & Strategy

The "Trap" words (words like HOUND, FOUND, POUND, BOUND) are lethal in Quordle. If you fall into a trap in standard Wordle, you might burn 4 guesses guessing consonants and survive. In Quordle, burning 4 guesses on one board guarantees you will fail the other three. If you encounter a trap, immediately guess a burner word that contains all the missing consonants at once (e.g., guess "PHAGE" to test P, H, and G simultaneously).

Why People Love the Chaos

Standard Wordle takes a seasoned player 3 minutes to beat and is rarely lost. Quordle introduces actual resource management and genuine tension. It is the perfect escalation for players who found the original game too easy and crave a strategic challenge.
